Hurdles
  • Lack of process
  • Long time members/attendees being open minded and motivated enough to see the need for changes and doing something about it
  • Volunteers committing
  • I think volunteer training is important and I think the church needs to be clean and serviceable. Many of these questions felt like they were pointing towards a mega church identity. I have a large church history…… and for the most part, it felt like the majority of the congregation was playing church. The questions about the facility made me uneasy….. i’m not in favor of trying to look and smell like a five-star hotel. I think that’s the wrong message.
  • Lack of love
  • Logistics- the church currently doesn’t have the space required to effectively handle the guest experience
  • How a small one does it verses a mega.
  • The right people in the right places.
Enablers
  • We want to bring more people to Christ
  • Relationships and genuine connections are vital to the growth of the church. Lack of guidance, training, and communications with volunteers will lead to burn out.
  • Because we want to grow Gods kingdom
  • I don’t know that we have a “problem”. I don’t think our church needs to “look and smell” like a five star hotel. I think we need to be true to who we are. I found some of the language in these questions heading towards a “mega church” feel. Rather than people coming to SGCC for “the best coffee and treats”. I hope they feel welcomed into a church family that preaches from the Bible and loves and cares about them as well.
  • A church that isn’t friendly won’t reach the community. Cliques are hurtful
  • Just to learn more tips.
  • To secure connections with our guests … to mitigate against in one door and out the other.
