Hurdles
  • I think we are already working in the right direction. I guess just a combination of making sure our volunteers are equipped with all the information we have, even if it doesn’t seem like they would need it (ex. if you serve at grounded and a new family come in and are confused about where to send the kids, will the person at grounded be able to help them over to the other building and know who the volunteers are enough to get them to the sign in area? It seems like an obvious yes and maybe it is but if I’m just a regular attender that doesn’t have kids, am I really paying enough attention during that section of anncs to know how to help someone else? Or am I just doing my own thing and not really knowing how to help someone if it’s outside of my team responsibilities.) & more team building which we are already working on. I think those two things also go hand in hand. Our volunteers rock but sometimes I wonder if they feel equipped enough for any situation & if they feel connected enough to even their own team to ask questions or talk in general with each other. (Like do all the greeters know the other greeters? Do they talk at all if they aren’t on a Sunday together? If someone makes a decision to follow Christ and a person that is a frequent volunteer is standing near them even if they aren’t on the prayer team, do they know what to do or feel equipped enough to try and help them?)

  • Because if we aren’t ready for the 80% then how can we say that’s who we are trying to help.
